NEWCASTLE IN LOAN BID FOR WILLOCK
Newcastle United are reportedly closing in on another loan bid for England midfielder Joe Willock after the Arsenal player spent the second half of last season on loan with the Magpies. The report from The Telegraph stated that Newcastle United want to sign the England player on loan again this summer after his successful loan spell with the club last season and that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will have to endorse the loan bid from the Magpies for it to happen. The 21-year-old midfielder has two years left on his existing Arsenal deal.
Willock was on the fringes of the first team under Arteta before he signed for Newcastle United on loan at the start of this year. The Arsenal Academy graduate was with the Magpies until the end of the season and he showed his quality at the club based in the North East of England.
Arsenal star Willock scored his first goal for the Magpies in a 3-2 win over Southampton in the league. Willock scored the opener as Newcastle United beat the Saints with ten men. Willockscored seven more goals in the last seven games of the last Premier League campaign thus becoming the second Newcastle United player to score in seven straight games in the competition after club legend Alan Shearer. In total, Willock scored eight league goals for the Magpies.
Willock is back at Arsenal for preseason this summer after his successful stint at the St. James Park at the end of last season but his future with the Gunners is in doubtfollowing the interest in the £30m-rated player from Newcastle United. The England player was not in the Arsenal team that lost 2-1 to hosts Hibernian on Tuesday evening in what was their first game of preseason. Arsenal manager Arteta confirmed that Willock missed the Hibs game due to a small injury.
