ADEMOLA LOOKMAN SENDS ENGLAND TO QUARTER FINAL
Everton youngster AdemolaLookman has sent England to the last eight at the ongoing Under-20 World Cup.
This is the first time that they would reach that quarter finals since 1993. Lookman grabbed a brace with the scoreline ending 2-1 in.
The former Charlton Athletic forward joined the Toffees in January. He opened scoring after being set-up by his clubmate. Right back Jonjoe Kenny sent a low cross that he managed well before sending it past the Costa Rica goalkeeper. Their opponents had an attempt at goal and thought it was in before the video assistant referee overruled. In the second half, he scored again following a cross from Dominic Calvert-Lewin.Randalll Leal had to get the consolation in the final minutes of regular time.
Ademola is famous for his goal against Man City in January when Ronaldo Koeman handed him a role.
England retain their 100% record in the tournament after a victory over Argentina and South Korea and a draw with Guinea. After moving past Costa Rica, they play either of Mexico or Senegal on June 5.
On the other hand, Germany were shocked 4-3 by Zambia in another game. The game was tied at 3-3 after late goals from SuatSerdar and Jonas Arweiler.
ShemmyMayembe scored in the 107th minute to seal the game for the African side. Their next fixture is a major one as they line up against Italy or France.
Also, Uruguay defeated Saudi Arabia by the slimmest of margins as Nicolas De La Cruz converted his penalty kick.
